FOLLOWING THE MONEY TRAIL

The four hurricanes that hit Florida during 2004 left many people looking at dollar signs. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) recently announced that it overpaid some relief recipients by $12 million and has set out to retrieve the money. The erroneous payments were attributed to computer problems. Meanwhile, many in the state are questioning FEMA's payment of about $30 million to residents of Miami-Dade County, which was not hit by any of the hurricanes.
