FROZEN TREATS.(PREVIEW)

When summer heats up, fruit and frozen treats beckon our taste buds. They are cool and thirst-quenching when it's just too hot to eat anything else.

Sherbet is just the right combination of both: fruity and light.

The dessert originated as a Middle Eastern drink called charbet, made of sweetened fruit juice and water, according to the Epicurious food Web site (http://food.epicurious.com/). Modern sherbet mixes frozen, sweetened fruit juice (or even wine) and water. Some sherbet makers add milk, egg whites or gelatin.
